This site is about making connections. In this project I connect theory with praxis, my curricular pursuits with my extracurricular activities, and, most importantly, my work as a Georgetown MA student with my future goal of becoming an educator.  While my project examines all of these relationships, it also provides a framework in which I explore the connections between motherhood, composition, and identity. I believe that students in the composition classroom can better understand their identity formation as writers as they read and write about the rhetoric of women who are also seeking to shape their identities as mothers. Whether in my syllabus or my foundational texts, I attempt to show how the fierce debates about motherhood might productively help students negotiate their own subjectivities as students in the contested space of the composition classroom. By connecting the personal, political, and academic, I hope to make writing matter.
